Most of the repertoire for horn is written for players specializing in the upper range of the instrument, even though orchestras require both upper range specialists and lower range specialists. At the request of Ruth Gross, I wrote this sonata in three movements for the lower range of the horn. This recording features Ruth Gross on horn, with Renee Glaubitz as the piano accompanist.
